Jibarito and Rice are Gandules. The best. One of the best lunch I have had in a long time.

I love jibarito sandwiches, and I wanted to love this place because I am always shopping in this area. I like their alcapurrias, and for under $2 each, you can't go wrong, but half the time I go they don't have any. I tried the chicken jibarito, and it wasn't terrible, but for the price it wasn't that great either. $7.50 for the sandwich. The chicken was dry.... to the point that it looked as if it had been cooked earlier in the day. There was also no cheese! I love American cheese in my jibaritos, so with no cheese my sandwich was definitely lacking. The $7.50 price tag does not include rice, which is unfortunate. Apart from the occasional alcapurria or papa relleno I don't see myself coming back for the sandwiches or the entrees. There are places in the city to get a tastier, meatier jibarito WITH arroz con gandules included for under $7.

It's difficult to find the words to adequately describe the horrendous service. Came in, waitress asked us to have a seat and would be right with us. She then proceeded to take care of an exiting customer (not a prob) and then took a phone order, then 3 other orders of folks who came in after we did. She then comes to the table, we requested the pollo guisado and she says "Wait a second," runs to kitchen door asks if they had any. Answer? NO
How is it a Puerto Rican restaurant has no pollo guisado? On top of having to wait for her so could place our order. Needless to say, won't be going back. Service leaves a LOT to be desired. -

Small gem! Great service and much patience since I'm a picky eater. Got Dinner special for ma y jibarito for me. Can't say it's a place for a date but grab a bite it was delish.

Cousins Grill is your typical fast casual Puerto Rican restaurant. It was a cafeteria-like dining experience with food served in colorful plastic trays and dramatic Spanish novella playing. My co-worker and I ordered a steak jibarito (green plantain) and steak jibarita de maduro (sweet plantain). With only one person cooking, there was a 10-15 minute wait between the two items so we ended up sharing the sandwiches. The steak jibarito was thicker than I'm used to and extremely greasy. It was my first time having the sweet plantain, and the texture was soft and soggy so I preferred the regular jibarito. Overall taste was okay, but steak didn't have any flavor - it could probably could have been any other meat and not made a difference. The food is very filling so even though we finished lunch at around 2pm, I couldn't eat much for the rest of the day. I think this will satisfy your greasy food cravings although it will destroy any sort of diet that you're on!
